On the 24th of August, An Absentee DM will be held in the Section Room in Nymble at 5:00 PM. During the DM, the board will, among other things, address the signing of contracts for D-Dagen and ratify several PC decisions.

At the request of D-Dagen, the name of the artist in the contract with United Stage has been crossed out in order to have a reveal later. If you still wish to find out who the artist is, you can contact the board.

On the 5th of August, the absolute highlight of the summer occurs - namely the Stockholm Pride Parade 2023! 🌈❤ The Computer Science chapter will of course participate in the parade with its own maxed out contribution, good drinks and snacks, incredible party atmosphere with thunderous music, and last but not least - AN INSANE AMOUNT OF SOAP BUBBLES. Hello chapter!

The recruitment for the management team of Studs 24 is almost complete, but we are still missing two roles, Head of IT and Head of Finance. Therefore, we are extending the recruitment process for a little longer to give everyone a chance to apply for this unique project.

But what is Studs then you might ask. Studs is a project where 30 master students get the chance to visit interesting companies in the IT industry. It will provide you the opportunity to connect with companies that you are really interested in and give you insight into what working with IT actually looks like. At the end of the project we all go on a study trip together, to a destination chosen by the whole group.

As a member of the management team, you will be in charge of one of the project's areas of responsibility, lead a team working towards that goal, and thus develop your leadership skills. Anyone studying a master's degree and a programme linked to the EECS school is welcome to apply! Just email pl24@studs.se if you have any questions!

On the 13th of June, Checka läget is organising Lägesqvik at Osqvik. Lägesqvik is an event where you mainly socialize and relax after an exhausting exam period. We will serve dinner but make sure to eat a proper lunch before. Estimated price is 200kr, but may change depending on how many sign up. Chapter Historian has almost finished the yearbook for this past achademic year to have as a momento of all the fun events at data. A few copies ar being ordered for the chapter to enjoy in META but now is the chance to order one if you would like one to keep. Summer is around the corner, it's warm outside, and the water has almost reached acceptable temperatures. Do you know what that means? Kayak paddling, of course! On the 19th of June, the sports committee will arrange a day of kayak paddling out in Velamsund. All members that sign up are welcome. 🌊🛶

We will meet up at 9:00 at the bus station at Slussen. From there, we will commute together to Kihls gård, walk the rest of the way, and arrive at the kayaking clubhouse around 10:00.

Depending on how many sign up, we will split up into groups of ~20 people and paddle one group at a time. We will have one morning and one afternoon session. There will be activities on land when the others are out paddling, and if you want to go for a run or hike trails out there, you are welcome to do so! 🏃‍♀️🏞️

For lunch, we will offer hotdogs 🌭 and waffles 🧇. There will also be fika ☕ and fruit 🍓 to eat during the day.

Schedule (might be subjected to change or delays):

• 9:00 AM - We meet at Slussen to commute to Velamsund.
• 10:00ish - We arrive at Velamsund. If you need to change, you can do that now. We will serve some bread 🍞 and coffee ☕ now.
• 10:30ish - The first group starts kayaking.
• 10:30-12:30 One group is paddling. The other group will be doing whatever they feel like on land. We will bring frisbees 🥏, spikeball 🏐, brännboll ⚾, etc.
• 12:30 - Lunch. Hotdogs + potato salad, and waffles are served.
• 13:30-15:30 - The second group paddles.
• 15:30-17:30 - Free time. It is possible to paddle more or just do some other activities on land.
• 17:30-18:00 - Time to go home. If the weather is nice and people want to stay, we could probably stay longer. 🌅

Practicalities:

• IMPORTANT! You need to be able to swim to join the paddling. 🏊‍♂️
• Bring proper clothing 👕
  • Something to paddle in. 🚣‍♀️
  • A jacket to protect you from wind and rain could be nice when paddling. 🧥
  • Clothes for being active on land. 👟
  • Change of clothes for after you paddled. 👕
• Towel, if you fall into the water or want to take a shower. 🛀

On June 19th, 2023 (2023-06-19), META closes for the summer. META will reopen on July 23rd, 2023 (2023-07-23) for the reception, and on August 25th, 2023 (2023-08-25) for the general public.

During the actual closure, only 5 people in the section will have access to META, so if you NEED to enter, please contact lokalchef@datasektionen.se. You can enter during the reception weeks, but refrain from doing so if you haven't contacted storasyskon@datasektionen.se in advance.

Welcome to Datas Danskväll (DDK)! At DDK on May 22nd, we will focus on ballroom dancing (Waltz/Viennese Waltz). The goal is for us data scientists to gracefully glide across the dance floor at balls.

On future occasions, we will also have the opportunity to learn bugg, salsa, chacha, rumba, foxtrot, jive, lindy hop, tango, slow foxtrot, and quickstep.

• Uppsala Domkyrka: the tallest church in the nordic countries

• visit the viking graves
• and of course the city center etc.

Uppsala is one of the most famous Swedish cities, so you really don’t want to miss it :D
