In accordance with §4.4 Brådskande ärenden, I exercise the powers of the D-rektoratet to issue a D-rektiv in accordance with §4.9 D-rektiv regarding the life and livelihood of the chapter members.

The D-directive is as follows:

“Do not let your old goals limit your future opportunities.”

Over the past year, the chapter has undergone significant organizational changes. Among other things, we have switched banks and laid the groundwork for a new accounting system, introduced a new organizational structure, and moved to a new communications channel for the chapter. Another important step forward is that we have made it possible to save funds for the future members of the chapter, ensuring that coming generations enjoy the best conditions.

I would like to encourage you to make the most of your time at KTH and get involved in the chapter. Dare to explore new paths and fill your “backpack” with fresh experiences and insights that you will carry with you long after your studies.

I would also like to thank everyone who has been involved in the chapter during 2024. Whether you have been functionaries, project leaders, helped out in committees, or simply shown up at events and shared your enthusiasm—your engagement, large or small, is what helps our chapter grow and remain a place for personal development. Thank you for making Datasektionen what it is!

Finally, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and likewise extend those wishes to the chapter for a bright and shining year ahead—I believe this year will be a great one. So make the most of your days, filling them with both necessities and fun, and remember:

Merry almost-Christmas Chapter! As an early Christmas present, KTH has decided to revoke our direct access to the garbage room. From now on, you’ll need to use one of the special cards we got from THS to get in. These cards will be kept in the storage room, in a cardholder with a cerise strap. The code for all the cards is 8320. These cards MUST be returned to META after use and must not be taken anywhere other than the garbage room, META, and the path between them.

We have also been given the responsibility to keep the garbage room and the place where we dispose of glass extra clean during week 8 (February 17–23) and week 18 (April 28–May 4).

Try to keep things tidy as usual so everyone stays happy, and have a Merry Christmas (or any other holiday you celebrate)!

At 17:30, 2025-01-20 Extra-SM #1 (After Ski-SM) will be held in V1. The reserve date is 17:30, 2025-01-21 in D1. At the SM, we will discuss the second reading of the proposition regarding the Rebase, a proposition regarding fika/teambuilding standards will be put forward, by-elections for the positions Board member of Student issues as well as Vice speaker will be held and a preliminary audit report will be presented.

Hey chapter!

Prylmångleriet (the patch committee) will have a Machine embroidery workshop on Thursday next week (19:th), between 17-19. We'll meet outside of META, and go to V together for the workshop.

If you want to activly participate, remember to bring a computer with you (and a **usb-stick **if you got one), especially if you want to use one of the two embroidery machines, which will be available. In preparation, you could install InkScape with the Ink/Stitch plugin, to be able to make embroidery files.

Rise up gamers, it's time to assemble for an awesome LAN.

During the weekend starting Friday 20 December 18:00, and ending Sunday morning, DESC will hold a LAN in META with game tournaments and a fun atmosphere.

Bring your computers to play games throughout the night, play Nintendo Switch, experience VR in Meta Quest 2 and play board games! 🎮 🎲 Vi will play games like Lethal Company, Jackbox and Pico Park together, or you can play whatever you want with others at the LAN.

Practical info Snacks and drink (alcohol free) will be available for free, and Billy pizzas sold. Alcohol and drunkenness in META will not be allowed. As usual no nuts either, to respect those with allergies.

Bring an ethernet cable (3+m recommended) and a branch outlet if you can. You’re not allowed to sleep in META but there will be places to sleep in Annexet in Nymble during both nights, so bring a sleeping bag too if you’ll be sleeping there.

It is with a heavy heart that Prylis announces the last sale of the semester, tomorrow at lunch!. It's sad to think that the fun is already over (because it will be my last sale as Prylis).

The title pretty much speaks for itself. The Lost and Found next to the stairs to the catwalk in META will be emptied shortly. Please make sure you have no belongings in there.

On Sunday 15 of December, the International Committees of the Data, Media, and Physics Chapters, plus THS MAIN, bring you an ultra-cheap event in Osqvik, the Student Union's cabin out in the archipelago 🏝️.

Another study period is nearing its end, and once again, the computer science students face their eternal nemesis—math exams.

But fear not! The Study Board is here to help you prepare and give you the best possible chance to succeed in your exams!

We will be organizing two exam workshops in E35 from 14:00 to 18:00 on December 16th and December 19th. These workshops will simulate the actual exam environment, and we’ve even created custom exams for Basic Mathematics, Discrete Mathematics, and Linear Algebra that you won’t find anywhere else!
