Hello chapter!

Winter has almost reached its end, which means that so are the cozy vibes. Therefore the Baking Committee and D-festeriet will organize a cozy Fantasy-pub on Friday the 28th of February to make the most out of this last bit of cozy.

This pub will be a bit different from the Friday-pubs you might be used to since there will a larger focus on creating a cozy atmosphere in these dark times right before the exam period (which some people may consider to be even darker times).

There will be soup, homemade bread, drinks containing alcohol, as well as en exclusive patch!

Next Tuesday (4/Mar) during QN, the International Committee 🌐 will be organizing a casual chess tournament♟️ with a special twist 🌀 to give your brain a fun and competitive workout! 🧠

The tournament is open to everyone, from beginners to experienced players, and we we will use a blitz format to make games shorter. ⚡⏳

🤡 Note that this will be a casual tournament, because every round we'll play with a different twist, 🌀 maximizing entertainment and minimizing boredom. 👀

It's time to indulge. It's semla season – and it's nothing less than 🧁FATTUESDAY🧁 (one week after the pub) – and for that, Ada will celebrate with a PUB together with DKM.

‼️Semlor will be sold together with the food (for a small commission). It will be semlor with vanilla cream/custard, so if you want a traditional semla with almond paste, you may enjoy this with your nearest friends and family outside of META (bc of nuts).

At the pub, the theme for Ada's sittning will be revealed! And of course, you don't want to miss that – plus, you definitely want to attend the sittning, right!?

The agenda for Revisions-SM is now available. SM will discuss, among other things, the freedom of liability for the board of 2024, elections, motions and propositions.

The agenda is available in the meeting folder on Google drive together with the summons, the decision protocol as well as the discussion protocol.

You can now vote for the positions of KF representative and KF representative substitute. This election is held digitally at https://durn.datasektionen.se/. All chapter members can vote by logging in with their KTH account and ranking the candidates. If a candidate has submitted a presentation it will be visible next to their name.

This Friday, the Swedish National Hacking Team qualification round kicks off! 🚀 The top participants from the qualifier will advance to a final competition at Bosön, Lidingö, where the national team will be selected. The team will then represent Sweden in the European Cyber Security Challenge 2025, which this year will be held in Warsaw, Poland. 🌍

The competition will follow a CTF format, where you solve various challenges to earn points and climb the scoreboard. The challenges consist of programs and systems that you need to analyze and exploit to find flags! 🚩

Categories:

• Web - Hack vulnerable web applications 🌐
• Reverse Engineering - Analyze and understand programs 🕵️
• Pwn - Exploit binary vulnerabilities, e.g., buffer overflows 💥
• Crypto - Break weak cryptographic implementations (lots of math!) 🔑
• Misc - Everything else that doesn't fit into the other categories 🦜

Even if you've never played a CTF before, there will be some easier challenges to get you started. 🧸 If you've participated in dJulkalendern before, you'll recognize the format since the challenges follow the same structure as the windows. If you want to start practicing now, there are plenty of past challenges in Säkerhets-SMs problem archive.

🎯 Who? Anyone interested in cybersecurity. If you want to try out the CTF without competing in the qualifier, you can register in the "Open" category. You must be a Swedish citizen to be able to qualify.

Earlier this year THS decided to limit our access to the garbage room. At the same time they also introduced a cleaning schedule for the garbage station behind META, where we usually throw away glass. Now it is our turn to keep it clean week 8 (17th-23rd). This doesn't mean we have to keep it squeaky clean but it is our responsiblity to keep the garbage inside of the garbage station and not outside of it. 😊

On the 17th of february, at 17:30, there will be a hearing of the candidates running for the position of student union council representative (kårfullmäktigeledamot). The candidates will first present themselves shortly, then they will take your questions. This will all take place in E33. Representing the chapter at the student union council is an important task, so be sure to stop by and ask your best questions.

Our purpose is to improve the chapter’s inner and outer communication though e.g. administering our information channels and kick-starting the chapter’s social media presence. On April 1, KTH and Akademiska Hus will be conducting a maintenance inspection of the Chapter’s facilities. Therefore, I and the rest of the Chapter would greatly appreciate it if you would take the time to write down any suggestions for improvements to our dear META. If there’s anything that needs fixing, adding, or a complete overhaul, please write it down. Everything will be forwarded directly to Akademiska Hus, and it’s rare that we get the chance to give feedback directly—so please make sure to respond!!!

Right now, applications for KL, THS Management team, are open. KL is a group of 11 KTH-students who take a study break to lead the operations of THS. Take the chance to make your mark on THS and KTH as well as having your best year at KTH!
